We probably wouldn't have gone here if it wasn't for other reviews. Honestly doesn't look like much from the outside, but those usually do end up being the best places! It was walking distance from our hotel so we decided to go for an early lunch, which was a great choice because we beat the rush. By the time we were leaving there was a line out the door! One of the best hamburgers we've ever had! Nice and fresh. Service was friendly, prices great. Only downfall is it very very small. We had 4 in our party and tables aren't made for more than 2.
A coworker brought me here to what I can only call a hidden gem. I had driven past here many times but never thought of going inside but am I so glad I did! Do not let the size of the restaurant fool you, they are cooking up some great breakfast. The order at the counter and bare bones environment will have you shocked by the great food. I had a pancake that was cooked to perfection. It tasted as if my mama cooked it in our kitchen. I also had the Super Slinger which was so good I almost ordered a second. My tip: pull over immediately and try this place!
We loved this place. Walked from nearby hotel for breakfast. The place probably hasn't changed decor since the 50's but we loved the vintage feel. It's a neighborhood place and they knew all the regulars who came thru the door. Though we obviously weren't regulars they were kind, jovial and served a great breakfast. Crisp bacon, scrambled/fried eggs. Good coffee. Wanted to go back but didn't have the time.
Great place to stop for lunch. The staff was super friendly and treated this out of towner like fam. I had the grilled ham&cheese sandwich and fries. The food was made fresh to order and brought out hot and ready. Very pleased to have had the opportunity to eat at a place so old school and local. If you are in STL, go grab lunch there.
In my ongoing quest to try all the places in George Motz's hamburger book I stopped by here this week. Had a really great hamburger (for breakfast) and soaked up the atmosphere. Lots of locals here for a regular fix. Isn't really the most hospitable if you've got more than a party of 2 so plan to take it to go if you've got a group. Alas, no counter to sit at either.
Been here for almost two years, and I never know the schedule for this place. Now I know it's from 6am - 1:15pm m-f. Was greeted by the friendliest, warmest greeting ever by Meeka (spelling). She was so nice, as was the rest of the staff. This diner is so cool. Whenever I can see the grill, and smell each item on it, I get excited! I went in for breakfast, but it ended at 11, so I went with a Patty Melt (Meeka suggestion) with fries! It was scrumptious! I told the cook the seasoning was great, and she corrected me by saying, "we just have a well seasoned grill!" Love it!!! Nice small place for lunch downtown!
Good burger joint! It's been here forever! The burger I recommend is the chili cheese burger. It is extremely small and can get overwhelmingly busy around lunch time, so go earlier. The service is good and many of the workers seem to have an unlimited memory of peoples names! The ambience is of the old school greasy spoon diner style place but with good meals!
Like going back in time, serving up 1950 style burgers. You can taste the nostalgia. You can taste the pride in the ingredients. Tiny on the inside. You can see the food cooked right in front of you. Staff is very friendly. Check it out if you in town. Fries satisfy your craving but aren't going to blow your mind. Lemonade seemed to be the drink every was getting.
Talk about a life changing experience! I'm not a big breakfast person. The White Knight Diner changed that. I had the Slinger! Hamburger, eggs, hash browns and Chili! Watch out breakfast will never be the same again! Great staff! They are friendly and efficient. The food is excellent! Fair prices. You can grab breakfast or lunch here daily.
Downtown staple! Pleasant staff, who take pride in preparing your order just as requested. Food comes out fresh, prompt & piping hot. Properly priced. Masks required. Indoor seating available as is takeaway. Call in ahead if you're in a time crunch. Plenty parking so stop in for a bite during their weekday breakfast/lunch hours. ~Christy approved!
